INVERGORDON, SCOTLAND
Invergordon, a seaport in northern Scotland, has long been recognized for its rich naval history. Northern Scotland, known as the Highlands, is one of the most scenic places in Europe, a landscape of mountains and forested hills. Venture into the Highlands where the local clan castles perch on rugged hills.
KIRKWALL (ORKNEY ISLANDS), SCOTLAND
Kirkwall is the principal harbor town and capital of the Orkney Islands. Steep-roofed stone houses line streets that wind around the medieval St. Magnus Cathedral. Consider a visit to the nearby ruins of the Earl’s Palace and the earlier Bishop’s Palace. Other ancient attractions around this starkly beautiful island include the enigmatic Standing Stones of Stennes and the Stone Age village of Skara Brae, discovered with furniture and indoor drains preserved.
PORTREE (ISLE OF SKYE), SCOTLAND
Portree, the enchanting capital of the Isle of Skye on Scotland’s west coast, is a scenic harbor town fringed with cliffs. One of the town’s attractions is the Àros centre which celebrates the island’s Gaelic heritage. Other highlights are Dunvegan Castle, a fortress stronghold that has been home to the MacLeods since the 13th century and is believed to be the oldest inhabited castle in Britain.

Cheerful Cork sprawls about the River Lee in one of Ireland’s most stunning settings. Consider traveling to Blarney Castle to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone.
FOWEY, ENGLAND
With a rich seafaring history dating back to the 14th century, Fowey in Cornwall is still one of England’s busiest ports. Stroll the esplanade, visit St. Fimbarrus Church and admire the view from St. Catherine’s Castle, built during the reign of King Henry VIII.
