Ireland
is a country unlike anywhere else in the world, a land of constantly
changing colors, magnificent and varied landscapes, rugged mountains,
imposing valleys, lush green fields, deep blue lakes and a land
of folklore and legend, where the genuine warmth, humor and friendliness
of the local people will leave a lasting impression. Tap your
toes to the traditional music and join in the crack (convivial
chat enjoyed in pubs), or 'craic,' to give it its Gaelic spelling.
Great restaurants and the talent for fun and conversation are
part of the fabric of the country. We invite you to experience
it for yourself from these exciting destinations - Killarney and
Galway.
KILLARNEY
Not far from Irelands southwest coast lies Killarney, a
sheltered Camelot-like town, surrounded by twenty-three square
miles of idyllic lakes, mountains, islands, castles, waterfalls,
and parklands. Set at the foot of Ireland's highest mountains
and along the edge of superb lakes, this colorful town is bustling
with splendid shops, pubs and excellent restaurants, a town you
will not forget.
GALWAY
Capital of the West, this ancient city is rich with
historic ambience. Originally an ancient fishing village, it developed
as a Norman-English settlement in the 13th century. The famous
Spanish Arch and Church of St. Nicolas is where, tradition holds,
Columbus prayed before sailing to America. The past lingers quite
literally in the city's narrow streets, in its carved stone windows
and low-arched doorways, and in the massive walls of historic
merchants' warehouses.

Optional
Excursions
FROM
KILLARNEY
DINGLE PENINSULA
Breathtaking coastal scenery and spectacular seascapes are revealed
as we travel the narrow promontory known as the Dingle Peninsula. Visit
beautiful Inch Beach, made famous by the movie Ryan's Daughter, and
the Slea Head Drive, one of Irelands most scenic routes, with
magnificent views of the Blasket Islands. Discover fascinating antiquities
ranging from ancient Iron Age forts to early Christian huts and visit
the lively, colorful village of Dingle.
BLARNEY
AND KINSALE
Visit Kinsale, one of Irelands prettiest small towns, with its
maze of narrow streets lined with picturesque Georgian and Victorian
buildings, and quaint shops. Continue to historic Blarney Castle with
its legendary stone, renowned for bestowing the gift of eloquence to
all who kiss it, and the village of Blarney, home to the famous Blarney
Woolen Mills.
FROM
GALWAY
ARAN ISLANDS
Travel back in time with a visit to the famous Aran Islands set out
at the mouth of Galway Bay. Protected for centuries by their isolated
position, the islands today are a bastion of traditional Irish culture.
Journey by ferry to Inishmore, largest of the three islands with its
austere landscape crisscrossed with dry-stone walls, stunning coastal
views, and site of some of the most magnificent prehistoric monuments
in Europe. Wander around the spectacular location of Dun Aengus,
the exceptional fort named after the king of a legendary Celtic tribe.
Stroll the quaint waterfront with its shops that offer traditional Irish
goods including the islands distinctive knitted wool sweaters,
before returning to the mainland by ferry.
CLIFFS
OF MOHER AND THE
'BURREN' REGION
Experience contrasting landscapes as you visit the Burren and the magnificent
Cliffs of Moher. The Burren is a stark and barren landscape of limestone
pavements with a fascinating, almost lunar terrain. Surprisingly, a
variety of plants rare to Ireland grow side by side in this unique stretch
of land. Continue to one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe,
the Cliffs of Moher. Rising almost 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic
and over 5 miles long, these sheer rock cliffs, one of Ireland's most
impressive natural sites, offer spectacular, breathtaking views.
Included Scenic Transfer
Experience the delightful scenic countryside of Ireland as you travel
between Galway and Killarney with brief stops in the village of Bunratty,
home to the formidable 15th century Bunratty Castle, and the pretty heritage
town of Adare, whose many cottages display some of the finest examples
of thatched roofs in Ireland.
