ROME & FLORENCE

Take a moment away from your busy day to imagine. See yourself on the Ponte Vecchio bridge at sunset, or standing in front of a Botticelli, or walking the Boboli Gardens, filling your soul with the smell of jasmine. Feel the spray of the Trevi Fountain on a hot day, throw in a coin, make a wish. Imagine yourself at the Colosseum side by side with the ghosts of gladiators or in a cafe toasting the end of the day with a rich ruby red wine. Close your eyes and taste warm crusty breads, velvety cheeses and ripe olives. Such are the glories of Rome and Florence. Add to that the Tuscan countryside, vineyards and lofty cypresses marching up undulating hills to medieval hilltop villages. All told it has the makings of an unforgettable trip.

ROME
Rome and Vatican City
An unforgettable day amidst the treasures of Rome. Tour of the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountain. A panoramic drive to Castel Sant' Angelo, the Court of Justice and the picturesque Tiber with its graceful bridges. Vatican City; the glory of the Sistine Chapel and masterpieces by Botticelli, Signorelli and Michelangelo. The awesome size and beauty of the largest church in the world, St. Peter's Basilica.

Pompeii
The intrigue of an ancient ruined city. In 79 A.D. volcanic ashes covered Pompeii burying all signs of life. Centuries later the well preserved poignant ruins were unearthed; frescoed villas, temples, shops and street walls with still visible graffiti. A Roman city in the time of the Empire flash frozen as they went about their daily lives. Breathtaking.

FLORENCE
Highlights of Florence
A walking tour in the "Cradle of the Italian Renaissance." The magnificent Cathedral, its huge dome and elegant Campanile piercing the sky, the marble encrusted Baptistery, famous for its vast bronze doors by Ghiberti. The statue of David by Michelangelo in the Academy of Fine Arts. Medieval Piazza Santa Croce. Piazza della Signoria, the impressive city square flanked by the Uffizi Gallery and Palazzi Vecchio.

Pisa and Lucca
Two proud old Italian cities wreathed in past glories. Pisa, splendid architecture, fascinating history. The Field of Miracles, home to the buildings that recall Pisa's past grandeur including the famous Leaning Tower. Lucca, rich in art and history. Massive red brick walls enclose the city, making it one of the best preserved Renaissance defenses in Europe, and the remains of an amphitheater can be seen as you walk the ancient walls.
