Stroll around the impressive Tiananmen Square, explore the imposing Forbidden City and be spellbound by the magnificent Great Wall. Visit the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo; admire the ancient Temple of Heaven or travel to Xi’an to view the archaeological site of over 6000 terracotta soldiers and horses. Its concentration of ancient sites makes it one of the world’s truly great destinations and the showplace of this diverse land.

Itinerary

DAY 1 USA-Beijing
Depart for Beijing via a transpacific flight. Cross the International Date Line and lose one calendar day.

DAY 2 Beijing
Arrive and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 3 Beijing
Your INCLUDED excursion begins in the largest public square in the world, Tiananmen Square, surrounded by imposing buildings such as the Chinese Revolution Museum, the Museum of Chinese History, and the Great Hall of the People. Pass through the Gate of Heavenly Peace to explore the Forbidden City, a complex of palaces and temples once limited to the royal family. After lunch (included), experience a rickshaw ride through ancient streets called Hutongs in the centuries old residential area of Beijing.

DAY 4 Beijing
Today's INCLUDED excursion takes you to one of China's most famous landmarks, the Great Wall. Over 2,000 years old and 4,000 miles long, a walk along its undulating and turreted path is spectacular. After lunch (included), visit one of the magnificent Ming Tombs, 13 underground palaces built to hold the lavish wealth of Ming Emperors.

Participants who have not booked the Two Day, One Night optional excursion to Xi'an will remain in BeijingDays 5 and 6.

DAY 5 Beijing optional excursion
Explore the Summer Palace with its variety of decorative buildings imaginatively set in the largest and best preserved imperial garden in China. After lunch (included), visit the largest zoo in China to view its impressive collection of animals including the giant pandas.

DAY 6 Beijing optional excursion
Visit a famous 17th century Buddhist temple, home to over 70 Tibetan and Mongolian Monks, as well as a 75-foot-high Buddha carved from a single piece of Sandalwood. After lunch (included), a trip to Tiananmen Tower, then on to Beihai Park, once the royal gardens of ancient dynasties.

DAY 7 Beijing optional excursion
Visit the magnificent Temple of Heaven, the largest of all existing temples in China, completed during the Ming Dynasty in 1420. After lunch (included), explore the Confucius Temple with its 200 ancient inscribed pillars standing silently in the courtyard. This evening enjoy an optional farewell Peking Duck dinner and show. Day 8 Beijing-USA Depart Beijing, crossing the International Date Line, arriving home the same day.

Two Day, One Night Optional
Excursion to Xi'an - $475.00

Day 5 Beijing-Xi'an
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Xi'an. Upon arrival, travel to the tomb of the First Emperor of China, remarkable underground ruins discovered accidentally by farmers in 1974. ¥ After lunch (included), visit the archaeological site to see more than 1,000 of the 7,000 life-sized, detailed figures of the Terracotta Army from the tomb of First Emperor Qin, builder of the Great Wall. Continue to your hotel for check in, followed by an (included) Tang Dynasty dinner and show.

Day 6 Xi'an-Beijing
Visit the famed Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an's ancient city wall and a jade workshop. After lunch (included), transfer to Xi'an airport for your return flight to Beijing.
