Auckland

Step off Riviera and into the vibrant heart of New Zealand. Before settling into the elegant 4-star Cordis Hotel, enjoy a curated half-day tour showcasing Auckland’s most iconic sights. Begin with a scenic drive to charming Devonport Village, where heritage architecture meets seaside charm. Then ascend the legendary Sky Tower for sweeping views that stretch from city skyline to sparkling harbor. Next, immerse yourself in culture with a guided visit to the Auckland War Memorial Museum—an architectural gem nestled in lush parkland. Your journey continues along the breathtaking Tamaki Drive, with a photo stop at Bastion Point (weather permitting), offering postcard-perfect views of the coastline.

After this enriching introduction to Auckland, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure—whether you choose to unwind or explore more on your own, the city is yours to discover.

March 31

Auckland & Waiheke Island

After breakfast, get ready for a full day of sightseeing, including lunch on Waiheke Island. Board a ferry to Waiheke Island, popular for its stunning white sand beaches, vineyards, olive groves, and seaside villages. Stop at Mudbrick Vineyard to savor a wine tasting and lunch amid its peaceful garden setting before continuing to Rangihoua Estate to sample olive oil and learn the secrets of its production. Return to Auckland via ferry and spend the remainder of the evening at your leisure.

April 1 - Morning

Hobbiton™ Movie Set

After breakfast, depart Auckland for a morning visit to the enchanting Hobbiton Movie Set, nestled in the rolling hills of Matamata. Step into the cinematic world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit as you explore the lush pastures, charming hobbit holes, and the iconic Green Dragon Inn. Your guided tour brings the magic of Middle-earth to life with behind-the-scenes stories and sweeping views of the countryside that inspired Peter Jackson’s films.

April 1 - Afternoon

Limestone Caves of Waitomo

In the afternoon, continue to the limestone caves of Waitomo—one of New Zealand’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Embark on a 45-minute guided tour through a subterranean landscape of soaring caverns and intricate formations. Begin in the Cathedral Cavern, renowned for its acoustics and once graced by the voice of opera legend Kiri Te Kanawa. Wind through narrow passages to marvel at the Banquet Chamber, the Pipe Organ, and the Catacombs. Your journey culminates with a serene boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto, where thousands of bioluminescent glowworms illuminate the darkness in a breathtaking display unique to New Zealand.

April 2

Auckland

After breakfast, transfer* to the airport for your return home.

Relax and explore the treasures of Auckland in the Cordis Hotel, conveniently located near Upper Queen Street and within walking distance of the waterfront, the Auckland Domain, and other unique attractions. Travelers should be confident in their ability to walk and stand for up to 3-4 hours with a total of up to 2 miles per day while keeping a steady pace with a group or tour guide. This tour can involve walking on mostly uneven ground and occasionally stairs, some with no handrails. Travelers should be able to board a coach or tour bus independently. This tour is not recommended for those with a walker or wheelchair. Participating guests must be comfortable operating on the water as a portion of the program includes a ferry and a boat tour. The Waitomo Glowworm Cave requires walking up and down 150 steps. Must be able to step in and out of a dory type boat in low light.
