ITINERARY

March 13

Panama City

Arrive in Panama City and transfer to the Central Panama Hotel or similar accommodations. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

March 14

Panama City

Explore life in a natural environment on a full-day tour of Embera Quera Village. Your adventure begins with a half-hour ride through the most pristine tropical forest in a traditional Embera canoe up the Gatun River. Immerse yourself in Embera culture through indigenous music, dance, and art. Visit their habitual residences and the tribal shaman, and learn about the healing power of jungle plants. Shop for local crafts and indulge in the “catch of the day” for lunch.

After lunch, continue to the Miraflores Visitor Center for a front-row view of one of the world’s great engineering marvels -the Panama Canal Locks. From the viewing platform, you’ll have a chance to witness a ship transit the canal (if you’re lucky!) and capture incredible photos. Your visit includes entrance to the IMAX Theater to experience a dynamic 3D film -narrated by Morgan Freeman-that brings to life the epic history, construction, and ongoing operations of the Panama Canal. After this unforgettable day, return to your hotel.

March 15

Panama City

After breakfast, embark on an exciting half-day sightseeing tour of Panama City. Embark on a walking tour of historic Casco Viejo, Panama’s hippest neighborhood. See historic buildings and important plazas that played a significant role in Panama’s colonial history. Then, revel in a cup of Geisha Panamanian Coffee and learn why Geisha beans are among the most popular in the world. After the tour, transfer to Marina.

Travelers should be confident in their ability to walk and stand for up to 3-4 hours with a total of up to 2 miles per day while keeping a steady pace with a group or tour guide. This tour can involve walking on mostly uneven ground and occasionally stairs, some with no handrails. Travelers should be able to board a coach or tour bus independently. This tour is not recommended for those with a walker or wheelchair. Must be able to lift legs high enough to get in and out of a canoe or small boat.
