Icelandic Revelation 7/14/2026-7/24/2026
Hosted by Jacob Napieralski
Jacob Napieralski is a Professor of Geology and Director of the Environmental Interpretive Center. He teaches courses related to glaciology, rivers, and human-environment interactions and has developed and led 6 study abroad trips to Iceland, as well as other destinations (Norway, Cyprus, Montserrat, and Puerto Rico). He fell in love with glaciers while visiting Norway, his wife’s country of origin, and that is how he decided to pursue a Ph.D. in glaciology. His research interests are now focused more on water, particularly flooding, flood history, and flood risks. He is excited to return to Iceland, as he has been traveling there for more than 25 years. He enjoys the impressive geology, exploring the culture, and interacting with the locals, and this trip gives him the chance to see Iceland from a different perspective.
Insurance
Purchasing travel insurance is highly recommended to protect you, your belongings, and your travel investment. The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan’s Travel Program will send you information regarding travel insurance as soon as your reservation is submitted.
